The Council will be organising participation of

"TEXTILLEGPROM" is the biggest trade fair in Russia, judging by the
number of participants and the exhibition area used. It is supported by Chamber
of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation and the Moscow government.
Leading manufacturers of apparel, fabrics, fur items, knitwear from Russia and
other countries participate in the Fair. The Expo witnesses a multitude of buyers from Russia and other
neighbouring countries.
Market potential
With its population of 142.8 million people and
GDP of 979 billion dollars, the Russian Federation is a market of great
importance. This massive population, together with the neighboring countries,
forms a potential market of great importance for the Textile sector. The
Russian economy has strengthened over the last few years and the market has
opened up for imports. Russia alone imports textiles and garments worth over 17
billion dollars. This exhibition provides an opportunity to Indian companies to
export embroidered fabrics and value-added fabrics for summer fashion. Exports
of Indian synthetic and rayon textiles to Russia amounted to around Rs. 14
Crores during the year 2006-07. The main items of export were Polyester
Filament Fabrics, made-ups like scarves and stoles, Viscose Spun Yarn and
Polyester Staple Fibre.
