RE : Participation in Colombo International Yarn & Fabric Show (CIFS) 10th-12th March 2016

The Council proposes to organize participation of its member-companies in “Colombo International Yarn and Fabric Show” (CIFS) in Colombo, Sri Lanka between 10th to 12th March 2016.  Conference & Exhibition Management Services (CEMS) is the Organizers of the above International Fair.

Potential of Sri Lankan market

Sri Lanka is currently sourcing over US$ 1.60 billion of MMF of synthetic & blended textiles from the global markets.  India exported an amount of US$ 201.82 million of synthetic & blended textiles to this market during 2014 with a market share of 12.30% only.  Considering this, there is substantial scope for India to further enhance its trade of MMF textiles to Sri Lanka.

Main products in demand

The main products of MMF textiles that are exported to Sri Lanka includes (in the category of Fabrics):  suitings, shirtings, PV woven fabrics, woven fabrics of polyester staple fibre, knitted fabrics of elastomeric yarn & synthetic fibre dyed, narrow woven fabrics, among many other varieties.  In Yarn category : nylon tyre cord yarn, polyester textured yarn (PTY), nylon textured yarn, and in Fibre category : viscose staple fibre (VSF).

Participation fees

The Exhibition is scheduled to be held at Sri Lanka Exhibition & Convention Centre (SLECC) in Colombo.  Members interested in participating in the above mentioned International Fair are requested to return the “Application Form” duly filled-in to the Council.  The participation fee for the Exhibition has been fixed at Rs.1.80 lakhs (net amount)

Early Bird Discount

Early Bird discount of Rs.10,000/- will be offered on the above Participation fee of Rs.1.80 lakhs to those confirming participation with payment on or before 29th December, 2015 (Tuesday), though participation in the Exhibition will remain open up to 11th January 2016 (Monday).  This means that Early Bird Discount will not be available to anyone, if participation is not confirmed with payment on or before 29th December 2015.

Market Development Assistance (MDA)

Since the above Exhibition has recently been proposed to the Ministry of Commerce, Government of India as a replacement for a cancelled programme for its approval for giving MDA grant, if approved, an amount of Rs.1.25 lakhs may be availed by eligible member-companies towards reimbursement of a part-costs towards participation charges in the Exhibition, subject to the fulfillment of certain conditions.  For more details, you may please contact us. Selected participants will be provided with individual stalls – admeasuring 9 sq. mtrs. with the necessary furnitures and standard accessories for display of products (one discussion table, three chairs, one fabric display stand/one yarn shelf, one waste-paper basket, power socket, name on the facia).  Any extra requirement may be arranged by participants with additional payments to the Organizers.  The Council will assist participants to obtain visa for representatives of participating companies (not more than two), though they need to apply on their own along with necessary documents & visa charges to the concerned Sri Lankan Embassy in India.  The Council will also help participants for booking their hotel accommodations.

It may be noted here that the Council had organized exclusive Exhibitions in Sri Lanka in the past, which were highly successful.  The last SRTEPC participation was organized in Sri Lanka during the year 2008.

  • It has a strong international export network - mainly exporting to the United States and Europe.
  • Internationally recognized as a producer of “garments without guilt”: the ‘Made in Sri Lanka’ level is accepted worldwide.
  • Strict compliance to international standards - covering labour, health, safety and environmental factors.

How to apply

In view of the above, in case, you are interested in participation in the above-mentioned Exhibition in Sri Lanka, you are requested to immediately fill-in the enclosed “Application Form” and return the same to the Council along with full payment of Participation Charges by a cheque/DD (for outstation candidates) to be drawn in favour of “The Synthetic & Rayon Textiles Export Promotion Council, Mumbai” at the earliest but not later than 11th January 2016.  In order to save time and meet the last date for confirmation of participation, interested member-companies may also like to pay their participation fees through RTGS transfers on the basis of the Bank details provided in the attached Application Form”.
