Sub: Issues related to NAFTA Export Performance-reg
This is to inform the Members of the Council that we have received a communication from the Department of Commerce (DoC), Ministry of Commerce & Industry, regarding challenges being faced by the exporters exporting to the NAFTA countries (USA, Canada and Mexico).
As you are aware, NAFTA countries are important export markets for MMF Textiles and Technical Textiles. The US is our largest export destination. In this context, the Commerce Secretary has directed to identify trade issues related to these countries for taking up bilaterally to increase our exports to the NAFTA countries and particularly with the US.
Therefore, all the Members exporting to and having export interest to the NAFTA countries are requested to provide list of trade issues/ India's asks which could be taken up for addressing trade barriers, promoting exports and incorporate in the trade promotion strategy for these markets (USA, Canada and Mexico), pertaining to MMF textiles and Technical Textiles falling under the purview of SRTEPC. The required information may kindly be provided through email at baruah@srtepc.in by tomorrow 3:00 PM positively.
