Sub: Investment and Trade Promotion Roadshow in Japan in Oct, 2023- reg.
This is furtherance to our circular vide REF. MR/CIR/2023-24/00157 dated 3rd October regarding organisation of Investment and Trade Promotion Roadshow in Japan in October 2023.
In the hybrid meeting today, the Ministry informed that the delegation will be headed by Shri Piyush Goyalji, Hon’ble Union Minister of Textiles, Commerce and Industry, Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, Government of India. Trade and Investment Roadshows will be organized in Tokyo and Osaka during 30 and 31 October 2023, and B2B meetings will also be organised with aim to promote Indian Textile products in Japan and India as an attractive investment destination.
As you are aware, Japan is a huge market for Textiles and Clothing (T & C) Products. During 2022 Japan’s total global import of T & C was US$ 36 billion. However, import from India was only US$ 444 million, accounting for a share of 1.23% only.
It may be mentioned that entire MMF textile value chain enjoys Duty-free Market Access in Japan under the India-Japan CEPA and despite having availed Duty-free Market Access, our exports to Japan have not increased to their true potential. There is tremendous untapped export potential for Indian MMF textiles to Japan.
Therefore, we urge our members to join the delegation to Japan and avail this opportunity to increase exports to Japan. Please note that the entire cost of the visit will be self-financed by the individual companies. Embassy of India Tokyo and Department of Commerce will arrange Noteverbal and help to obtain visa on time.
