Issues for Discussion in the upcoming FTA Monitoring Committee Meeting

Sub: Issues for Discussion in the upcoming FTA Monitoring Committee Meeting, 

Dear Sir/Madam,    

 

As you are aware, Government of India has entered into various bilateral and multi-lateral Free Trade Agreements with other countries. Some of the important FTAs which are already in effect and India is a part of it are India-ASEAN FTA, SAFTA, APTA, India-Japan CEPA, India-Korea CEPA, India-Singapore CECA, India-Malaysia CECA, India-UAE CEPA, etc.  

 

Government has constituted an FTA Monitoring Committee with a mandate to hold regular meetings of the Committee with the stakeholders to discuss issues related to FTAs, including non-tariff barriers by our trading partners as well as the Rules of Origin (ROO) pertaining to the FTAs entered into by India. Currently, Shri Rajesh Agrawal, Additional Secretary, DoC is the Chairperson of the Committee. 

 

The first meeting of the Committee was held on 01.09.2023 under the chairmanship of Shri Rajesh Agrawal, Additional Secretary.  

 

Second meeting the FTA Monitoring Committee will be organized on 12 Jan 2024 at 2 PM under the chairmanship of Shri Rajesh Agrawal, Additional Secretary. for which Ministry is seeking inputs from the Council.  

 

Members of the Council are requested to send their valuable inputs/ views on the FTA related issues as mentioned above, for taking them up during the upcoming FTA Monitoring Meeting to be held on 12 January 2024.
