Sub: Request for views/ inputs on Monitoring imports from ASEAN countries – April-Jan 2024
This has reference to a letter received by the Council from the Department of Commerce, Ministry of Commerce and Industry along with a statement on surging imports of four Manmade fibre textiles during April-Jan 2023-24 from the ASEAN region. DoC has requested the Council to analyse the import trends of these textile products and suggest suitable interventions to discourage non-essential import from ASEAN. The reference letter received from the DoC is attached (Click to Open).
In view of the above, Members of the Council are requested to give their views/ inputs on reasons for surging imports from ASEAN and suggest respective interventions to discourage non-essential import from ASEAN.
