Sir, Participation
in TEXGATE – International Textile & Accessories Exhibition
Istanbul, The
Council will be organising participation of its member companies in
the forthcoming International Textile & Accessories Exhibition
“TEXGATE” being held in
Istanbul, Turkey during 27
– 29 September 2007.
This will be a follow-up of the exclusive exhibitions held by the
Council in Istanbul in November 2004 and November 2006, which were
highly successful. TEXGATE
is supported by Turkish Government, Istanbul Textile Garments
Exporters Association and Turkish Clothing Manufacturer Association.
The exhibitors in TEXGATE
include 147 companies from China, Hong Kong,
India, Thailand, Pakistan, Germany, Austria, France, and Portugal. The
Fair witnesses a multitude of buyers from Turkey and other
neighbouring countries including Europe. According
to the organisers, over 9,900 local visitors and 3,200 international
visitors attended the March 2007 edition of
TEXGATE. Members
of the Council, who participate in the above exhibition, can avail of
the financial
subsidy upto Rs 80,000/- towards reimbursement of the
participation fee from the MDA Scheme. Details of the eligibility
criteria under the MDA scheme are available on Council's website or
can also be had from the Council on request. MARKET
POTENTIAL Turkey
is a dynamic market economy strategically located between Europe and
Asia, and bordering the Mediterranean, Aegean and Black Sea.
Turkish textile and clothing exports reached US$ 19.7 billion
in 2006 accounting for a share of 23%
of total Turkish exports and around 10% of its GDP.
Turkey today, with its ever-growing garment production, is considered
as the one of the leading
producers of apparels in the world. During 2006, export
of apparels from Turkey amounted to US$ 11.65 billion, which is 59% of
the total textile exports. The Customs Union between Turkey and the
European Union (EU) created favorable market conditions for Turkey. EU
is the biggest market for Turkey followed by United States.
During
2006, Turkey
imported MMF textiles (fiber, yarn & fabrics) worth US$ 2.6
billion. Turkey is the
world’s top importer for Polyester Viscose Fabrics (US$63 million).
It also imports very large quantities of MMF yarns. The main items
being imported are Synthetic Filament Yarn, Polyester Filament Yarn,
Polyester Viscose Yarn, Viscose Spun Yarn and Polyester Textured Yarn.
Import
of Textiles and Clothing in Turkey
Turkey
has emerged as the third largest market for Indian Man-made fibre
textiles with exports valued at Rs. 612.46 crores (est.) during
2006-07. Main items of exports consisted of Polyester Viscose,
Polyester Spun, Viscose Spun yarns and Polyester Filament, Nylon
Filament & Polyester Viscose fabrics. There exist ample
opportunities for further increase in export of MMF textiles to
Turkey. PARTICIPATION Members
interested in participating in TEXGATE, Istanbul, Turkey should send
the enclosed Reply Form along with the cheque (DD for outstation
companies) for Rs.1,40,000/-
drawn in favour of “The Synthetic & Rayon Textiles Export
Promotion Council” payable at Mumbai. Since, the last
date for remittance of group participation fee to the organisers is
approaching, please rush your application for participation before
21st July 2007. The
participants will be provided with individual stalls admeasuring 12
Sq.mts. with standard accessories for display. The Council will also
arrange to obtain recommendations for Visa to the representatives (not
more than two) who will be attending the Exhibition. Please note that
all the expenses on airfare; hotel etc. would be met by participants. K.
